Phlebotomy Technician Certification Course
The Westchester School of Dental Assistants, WSDA, is proud to present its 80-hour Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Course. Our classes are presented during ten sessions, held for eight hours a day on Saturdays.
About Our Phlebotomy Certification
WSDA Phlebotomy course includes theory and hands-on instruction. The comprehensive CPT course at WSDA is designed to teach the students technical and procedural aspects of basic phlebotomy. The program includes the collection of blood samples and venipuncture required to become a Phlebotomist in the healthcare field. Coursework includes:
- Introduction to Phlebotomy & Infection Control, Legal Issues in Healthcare
- Introduction to Human Anatomy & Physiology
- Phlebotomy Equipment & Supplies used, Phlebotomy Procedure
- Phlebotomy Fundamental Essentials
Whether attendees want to start or advance their career in health care to become a phlebotomy technician, this course prepares students to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician Certification Exam (CPT). Our instructors come with clinical laboratory experience and are New York State licensed to teach the WSDA CPT Course.
Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest update in 2019, the 10-year job outlook for the field is 23%, much faster than average for other occupations. The annual median salary was $34,480 in 2018. Working mostly in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, doctor’s offices, nursing homes and blood banks, the typical tasks for a phlebotomist includes:
- Collecting blood and non-blood specimens for testing
- Prepping patients for transfusions
- Supporting doctors or hospitals with research
- Drawing blood for donation
Phlebotomist Certification is governed by several professional associations. Each one requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program. Additionally, each association may require passing specific test, accruing either requisite work hours or producing a signed letter from a supervisor or instructor indicating documented venipunctures.
Our total Tuition Cost is $2,100 which includes books, uniforms, lab materials and registration fee. We have a payment plan option for those who qualify.
